too much sun, no sunscreen, here’s what i do for my skin after

to be completely honest, i haven’t regularly used sunscreen for more than 10 years.

it’s not because i think sunscreen is bad. i just never got into the habit. i love the beach, i love the sea, i love being outdoors, and i spend a lot of time gardening and growing plants.

years ago, i even joked that having a tan might improve my chances of finding a foreign husband by at least 5%. of course, that part is a joke 😆

but spending so much time in the sun means i occasionally come home with skin that feels hot, sensitive, or dried out, especially after a full day at the beach.

this is how i usually take care of my skin when that happens.

the sun is not the enemy

a lot of people talk about the sun as if it is always the bad guy.

for me, the sun is part of the life i enjoy.

it means beach trips, long walks, scooter rides, gardening, and spending time outside instead of sitting indoors all day.

from my personal experience, getting some fresh air, moving around, and being outdoors usually puts me in a better mood.

that doesn’t mean too much sun has no consequences.

if i spend hours under strong sunlight, my skin can become red, dry, sensitive, or uncomfortable.

so i don’t fear the sun, but i also try not to ignore my skin when it starts asking for a break.

the sun reminds me of plants

one reason i never saw sunlight as the enemy is because i love growing plants.

when i water my orchids and work in the garden, i see how healthy plants respond to the right amount of sunlight. their leaves open up, their colors become brighter, and they seem full of life.

sometimes i think people are similar.

on days when i get outside, breathe fresh air, see the sunlight, and move my body, i usually feel happier too.

for me, sunlight is not only about skin.

it is also about how i feel.

after sitting indoors for hours, i can feel tired, sleepy, or unmotivated. but after watering plants, checking on flowers, or spending a little time outside, my mood often changes.

it feels like a small reset button.

of course, balance matters.

some plants get damaged if they receive too much sun.

people can experience the same thing.

too much sunlight can leave the skin feeling sore, red, or irritated.

that is why i don’t think sunlight is completely good or completely bad.

i think it is part of nature, and when we get the right amount of it, life often feels a little brighter.

keep cleansing simple

when i come home and my face feels hot from the sun, the first thing i do is wash my face with cool or room temperature water.

i avoid hot water, harsh scrubs, and aggressive exfoliation.

when skin is already feeling stressed, i don’t want to make it work even harder.

sometimes a gentle cleanse and a little rest are all it needs.

hydration is what matters most to me

after being in the sun, my biggest concern is not getting darker.

it is keeping my skin comfortable.

if my skin feels tight, dry, or sensitive, i focus on hydration.

i use a serum and moisturizer that help my skin feel soft and comfortable again.

for me, hydrated skin simply looks healthier and feels better than dry skin.

that does not mean a serum can cure sunburn.

it just means keeping skin moisturized can help it feel less uncomfortable.

one thing that has become part of my routine is using pam botanic serum, especially after long days outdoors.

i spend a lot of time at the beach, in the garden, and under the sun, so hydration has always been important to me.

everyone’s skin is different, and my experience may not be the same as yours. genetics, lifestyle, and many other factors also play a role.

but if you asked what one skincare step i have stayed consistent with over the years, it would be keeping my skin hydrated.

i honestly do not know whether it is genetics, skincare, or simply luck, but my skin still feels strong, and i have never personally had concerns about facial melasma.

that is one reason pam botanic serum remains one of the products i reach for most often after cleansing and after long days in the sun.

aloe vera is still a favorite

when my skin feels overheated after being outside, aloe vera is often something i reach for.

i like it because it feels cooling and helps add moisture.

after a beach day, that cooling feeling can be especially comforting.

after a beach trip, i barely want to wear a shirt

this is something i experience quite often.

if i spend the entire day at the beach, snorkeling, swimming, or walking in the sun, i usually start feeling it in the evening.

my shoulders, chest, back, and arms can feel warm and sensitive.

sometimes even a lightweight t-shirt brushing against my skin feels uncomfortable.

when that happens, i take a shower, cool down, and wear the loosest clothes i can find.

sometimes i simply want as little fabric touching my skin as possible because the friction can make everything feel worse.

if you have ever had a mild sunburn after a beach vacation, you probably know exactly what i mean.

it is not necessarily severe pain.

it is more like your skin quietly saying:

“that was enough sun for one day.”

during those evenings, i drink more water, keep my skin moisturized, stay in air conditioning if possible, and give my body time to recover.

most of the time, my skin feels much better by the next morning.

sometimes skin needs rest more than products

if my skin feels particularly sensitive, i try to avoid doing too much.

i reduce products that might irritate my skin and skip makeup if i do not need it.

sometimes the best skincare is not adding five new products.

sometimes it is simply letting your skin rest.

what about sunscreen?

a lot of people reading this might be wondering:

do i recommend sunscreen?

yes.

even though i personally do not use it regularly.

medical evidence supports the use of sunscreen as one way to reduce exposure to uv radiation and help protect the skin from sun-related damage.

so if sunscreen is already part of your routine, that is a good thing.

as for me, i am still the same person who loves beaches, gardens, orchids, scooter rides, and outdoor life.

and yes, i am still a little too lazy when it comes to sunscreen.

final thoughts

i have spent more than a decade enjoying the sun, growing plants, exploring beaches, and living outdoors.

for me, sunlight has never been the enemy.

it brings energy, better moods, beautiful mornings, and many of the experiences i enjoy most.

sometimes sunlight changes more than our skin tone.

sometimes it changes how we feel about the day.

but when my skin starts telling me it is tired, i listen.

a gentle cleanse, plenty of hydration, a little rest, and some pam botanic serum have become my go-to routine after long days under the sun.

and as for the foreign husband plan…

i still have no idea whether the tan helped, but i definitely still love the beach.
