blackheads, acne, and how i finally got rid of them

i used to think blackheads were just part of life.

no matter what i tried, they always seemed to come back. pore strips, extractions, new skincare products, nothing seemed to solve the problem for long. a few days later, the tiny dots on my nose would be back again.

for a long time, i believed blackheads were only a problem for people with oily skin.

then i realized that wasn’t necessarily true.

i actually have dry skin. but during one period, i tried several products that weren’t a good fit for my skin. over time, my skin became unbalanced. some areas felt dry and tight, while my t-zone, especially my forehead, nose, and chin, became noticeably oilier.

the more out of balance my skin felt, the more noticeable my blackheads became.

my nose constantly felt congested, and it slowly became one of the skin concerns i thought about every day.

i tried pore strips. i tried extractions. i switched skincare products more times than i could count. no matter what i did, the blackheads always seemed to come back.

during that time, i also struggled with acne across my face. whenever i took photos, i would zoom in and look at my skin first. seeing blackheads on my nose and clogged pores on my cheeks made me wonder why i was putting so much effort into skincare without seeing the changes i hoped for.

eventually, i realized that the real issue wasn’t the blackheads i could see.

it was understanding what kept bringing them back.

blackheads aren’t just an oily skin problem

many people associate blackheads with oily skin, but my experience was different.

even dry skin can develop blackheads, especially when the skin feels dehydrated or out of balance.

blackheads are commonly associated with a mixture of oil, dead skin cells, environmental debris, and residue that collects inside pores. over time, that buildup may become visible, especially around the nose.

when my skin was struggling, my face felt dry in some places and oily in others. even though i washed my face often and constantly tried to remove blackheads, it felt like the same problem kept returning.

at one point, i thought my skin simply wasn’t clean enough.

so i washed my face more.

later, i realized that overwashing or using products that leave the skin feeling excessively dry can sometimes make skin feel less balanced. that experience changed the way i looked at cleansing.

instead of focusing on a squeaky-clean feeling, i started looking for products that could cleanse my skin without making it feel stripped.

my cleanser was created with that idea in mind. it focuses on gentle cleansing while helping maintain the skin’s natural moisture. from my personal experience, my skin feels clean and comfortable after washing, without the tight feeling i experienced with some products in the past.

why pores and blackheads often appear together

for years, i focused on the blackheads i could see.

i rarely thought about what might be happening inside the pores themselves.

people who experience excess oil in the t-zone or have more visible pores often notice blackheads more easily. when oil and residue collect inside the pores, they can become more noticeable on the skin’s surface.

after paying closer attention to hydration and choosing a gentler approach to skincare, i felt that my skin looked more balanced overall than it did during the period when blackheads were one of my biggest concerns.

why removing blackheads doesn’t always solve the problem

i remember how satisfying pore strips used to feel.

every time i peeled one off and saw buildup attached to it, i felt like i had finally solved the problem.

but that feeling never lasted very long.

a few days later, my nose often looked exactly the same.

that was when i realized that removing visible buildup was only a temporary step. it didn’t necessarily address the factors that contributed to recurring congestion in the first place.

for people who experience an oily t-zone, using a warm towel on the face for 5 to 10 minutes once a week may help make cleansing easier. but in my experience, consistency mattered much more than quick fixes.

the things that touch your skin every day

there was a point when i felt like i was doing everything right, yet the blackheads still remained.

that led me to pay attention to the small details.

i started looking at everything that touched my face on a daily basis, including shampoo, conditioner, pillowcases, towels, and skincare products.

shampoo isn’t automatically the cause of blackheads, but some hair care products may not work well for individuals who are prone to irritation or breakouts. learning how my skin responded to different products became an important part of my skincare journey.

sun, heat, and oily skin

i love traveling, spending time outdoors, and being in the sun.

i noticed that hot weather often made my skin feel oilier throughout the day. combined with dust, pollution, and everyday environmental exposure, it sometimes felt like my skin became congested more easily.

instead of trying to avoid the outdoors altogether, i focused on keeping my skin clean and comfortable after spending time outside.

choosing skincare that fits your skin

in the past, i often chose skincare products based on marketing claims rather than paying attention to how my skin actually felt.

some products looked promising at first but eventually made my skin feel heavy, greasy, or uncomfortable.

over time, i became more focused on hydration. i found that when my skin felt properly moisturized, it generally looked healthier and more balanced.

one product i use regularly is my serum, which contains multiple molecular weights of hyaluronic acid to help support skin hydration. from my personal experience, consistent use leaves my skin feeling more hydrated and appearing smoother.

when skin has adequate moisture, it can look healthier overall and may respond better to the rest of a skincare routine.

my personal experience

i once had acne across my face and genuinely believed i might never have good skin.

for a long time, i thought blackheads were just something i would always have to deal with.

but once i stopped focusing solely on removing blackheads and started paying attention to overall skin balance, my perspective on skincare changed completely.

my skin didn’t improve overnight. it didn’t change in a single week. but over time, i felt that many of the skin concerns that bothered me most gradually became easier to manage, and my confidence slowly returned.

one of the biggest lessons i learned was that healthy-looking skin doesn’t come from a single product. it comes from consistency, choosing products that fit your skin, and minimizing habits that may contribute to ongoing congestion.

today, when i look in the mirror, blackheads are no longer the first thing i notice.

my skin isn’t perfect every day, and i don’t expect it to be. what changed most is the way i think about skincare. the turning point wasn’t the day i removed every blackhead. it was the day i stopped chasing blackheads and started taking care of my skin as a whole.

when my skin began to feel more balanced, i felt that many of the concerns that once bothered me started to matter less, and that change made all the difference.
